Lost Songs

Silicate | 26x35x11cm | 7.4kg

“Lost Songs” sculpted and named by ROM joined TMMSC in February 2015 and is the fourteenth sculpture in ACJ#1. Inspired by traditional songs that have been lost and forgotten in modern Africa, this Silicate medium piece also celebrates the advice that can be found in those songs. The front is in the shape of a guitar, with two other shapes imbedded inside: a desktop computer and an ear. The desktop computer symbolizes how the modern generation accesses music today and the ear symbolizes some people’s eagerness to hear the old songs that cannot easily be found anymore. The back is a happy face that depicts the feeling when traditional songs have been found again through the intersection with technology.
